About Commissioning a Custom Mosaic

I have designed mosaics for use indoor and out. I work with landscape architects, architects, interior designers, commercial and residential clients.

Commission & Design Process

I use structural grade mortar mixes with polymer additives and super plasticizers to create flexibility in the pieces in exterior setting. This helps keep the cement from crazing and cracking in our temperate climate. Using products best suited to our climate and construction constraints is something I research each time I begin a job. This is to ensure the satisfaction of those who commission me to do a mosaic or sculpture for them.

The process begins with an initial consultation (this applies to landscape design or mosaics). I will meet you at the location of the project. All individuals who have direct input in the design and/or construction of the piece should be present. You will provide client contact information, measurements, material and color choices, if possible please provide a collection pictures with the style that you want incorporated into your piece. There is an initial design fee for first draft rough sketches, research, gathering of materials and samples. Once we have agreed to go forward you will be provided with a set of to scale drawings, materials list, contract with services to be rendered and estimate and payment schedule. Transportation to the site is also an additional fee, so is shipping and insurance coverage while the piece is in transit.

Pricing

I do not include pricing on this web site because all pieces are generally custom and have site and material-specific parameters. The price is also determined by the factors such as style of mosaic, type of materials and where it is constructed (either in-situ or studio-built). Shipping and transportation charges are additional.
